How To Propose On Valentines Without Being Cheesy AF
The time has come, you feel it in every romantic bone in your body, you’re going to propose…on Valentines day.
Please ignore the collective groaning from Valentines day haters everywhere who are likely shouting from their judgey-wudgey little high horses, “why should I buy into this cheesy holiday created by Hallmark?! I don’t need it to be Feb 14th to show how much I love my partner!”
But we think even the sceptics may change their mind after reading our cheeseless proposal ideas for this darling little Valentine day.
1.Oops, I totally forgot it was Valentines day.
This one works best if your partner isn’t super into Valentines day, so please make sure A) they haven’t already made plans, and B) Their feelings won’t be hurt that the holiday ‘slipped your mind’, resulting in them feeling less than romantic when you finally do pop the question later that day.
2.The Fake Out
Celebrate the crap outta Valentines day, and treat ya honey to a day of romance, I’m talking flowers, home cooked meal, candles, the whole shebang! Once the day is done and you’ve settled down for the evening – PJ’s on, teeth brushed – that’s when you propose, they’ll never see it coming!
3.OUT OF TOWNER
“Rats!” You exclaim loudly a week before Feb 14th. “Babe, looks like I’ll be out of town for work this Valentines day.” You’ll need some decent acting skills if you’re gonna pull this one off. My advice is to commit 1000%, pack an overnight bag and pretend to receive your travel confirmation the night before. On the day have a friend of your sweetie organise to take them out to a pre-decided destination where you surprise them with a sparkler!
4.Keep It Simple, Stupid
This person that you want to marry, I hope, you know better than almost anyone in the world. You know if they prefer daisies to daffodils, you know their favourite food is birthday cake. and you know that they would be absolutely stoked to marry you! Who says you have to follow the holiday trend with a heart shaped balloon and a dozen red roses? Create your own version of Valentines Day based on what your human loves most.
5.To Hell With Being Cool
Maybe you’re sick and tired of playing it cool, maybe you want to lean into your achey breaky hearts desires and go all out! Get out the candy and heart shaped decor, scatter rose petals on the bed, play your song and embrace the hardcore romantic within!
